the NYSSA project

The NYSSA (Navigating the Yearly Shifting of Species’ Ranges) Project centers on understanding, monitoring, and adapting to the shifting of species’ ranges in response to climate change. Like the name perhaps infers, the project is centered around that of Nyssa sylvatica

is all about assisted migration, but particularly focused on that of Nyssa sylvatica (blackgum). This project is being used to organize observations for crowdsourcing fruit of N. sylvatica for seed collection & common garden establishment at Blandy Experimental Farm in Boyce, VA.
